South Africa's very own takes victory at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup

On Saturday, South Africa's very own Greg Minnaar stormed to victory at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, to become the all time leader in Downhill World Cup wins. Minnaar went into the event level on victories with his injured Santa Cruz Syndicate team mate Steve Peat, each rider having 17 World Cup titles to their name. Minnaar put in a near flawless run on an extremely dusty and worn track to beat fastest qualifier Loic Bruni by 0.960 seconds, and in doing so moved clear of Peat on the all time list with his 18th career win.

The 33 year old from Pietermaritzburg is returning to his best ever form, and his win in Lenzerheide became his second World Cup win of the season after taking the top step in Fort William, Scotland earlier in the year. He will be in action again at the Downhill World Cup event in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada on August 1st.

A HUGE congratulations to Greg Minnaar making South Africa proud!
