Introduction to GoPro QuikCapture

This week we look at the QuikCapture function. Among the list of upgrades and enhancements with the release of GoPro’s 2014 line-up, which include the Hero and Hero 4 models, GoPro added QuikCapture. Available on the Hero, Hero 4 Silver and Hero 4 Black, it allows you to either record video or go into time-lapse mode with the press of one button. This adds a lot of versitility to your GoPro experience.

What does QuikCapture do?

As mentioned earlier, QuikCapture allows you to start the camera recording in two predefined modes right from the get-go. The two modes are activated by how long you press the shutter button. Once you press the shutter button again, the camera switches off.

Here is how you select the mode using QuikCapture:

  • Video mode – Short shutter press

  • Time lapse mode – Long shutter press until the time lapse symbol appears

How to activate QuikCapture on Hero:

  • When camera is switched on, press mode/power button until settings menu appears and press the shutter button.

  • Once you’re in the settings menu, use the mode button to scroll to QuikCapture (GoPro was kind enough to give it a picture of a bunny). Press the shutter button to enter the QuikCapture menu.

  • Use the shutter button to select On or Off.

  • Once you have selected the desired setting, press and hold the shutter button to return to the main screen.

How to activate QuikCapture on Hero 4 Silver and Black:

  • When camera is switched on, press mode/power button until settings menu appears.

  • Once you’re in the settings menu, use the mode button to scroll to QuikCapture (GoPro was kind enough to give it a picture of a bunny). The title on top should be ‘QUIKCAP’. Press the shutter button to switch ‘off’ to ‘on’.

  • Once you have selected the desired setting, press and hold the shutter button to return to the main screen.

The QuikCapture is a great addition to the GoPro cameras to make it more user friendly.
