Last week saw the World Rallycross Finals take place in Cape Town. Action Gear went along to promo some of our products ahead of Black Friday, and to show our support for the first time this international event came to South African shores.
What is rallycross?
Rallycross is a form of sprint style automobile racing, held on a closed mixed-surface racing circuit, with modified production or specially built road cars, similar to the World Rally Cars, although usually with about 200 bhp (150 kW) stronger engines, due to e.g. their 45 mm turbo restrictor plates.
What this means for spectators, is two days of short-sprint action on a mixed gravel and asphalt track. It's quick, it's dusty, and the narrow track practically turns this into a contact sport with pieces of fibreglass, bumpers, and other bits of debris flying about as each driver tries to make it to the front of the pack.
